Teetering Precariously
This week I made a silly mistake – I tossed a belt onto my bed, and the buckle perfectly smashed the home button on my phone. With this simple throw, I accidentally turned the portal into my phone into a lifeless crater.
This incident has me thinking about the precarious nature of things. How simply a throwaway moment can have a massive impact on anything and everything. But what I love about this is how it relates to the creative process. Whenever I’m making anything, I often find myself throwing color at the canvas, or tossing some notes into a song, just to see what they leave behind. The result can be hideous, grotesque, abominable – or, it could be exactly what was needed. Either way, it’s a step, which is sometimes all one can muster.
