As you may know, our summer interns are contributing to Daily Fuel’s editorial. Today's guest blogger, Christian Zilko, student at Emerson College, discusses America's history of innovation.

Find Your Inner Innovator

Whatever problem is ailing you, a good dose of perspective is almost always a step in the right direction. We’ve all been given the advice to “look towards the past, to remind yourself how much the world has improved,” but that isn’t always enough. Better advice, according to Henry Ford CEO Patricia Mooradian, would be to look to the past to remind yourself that any problem is solvable.

On this holiday week, it’s worth remembering that America has always been a country that allows innovation to thrive. The countless inventors, business leaders, artists, and politicians that fill the country’s history earned their place through innovation. That ability to find unique solutions to problems, to think outside the box, is present in all of us. We just need to find ways to harness it.

Read some biographies. Think back to your high school history classes. Remember that countless American icons were regular people just like you and me. They achieved their goals through relentless innovation. If they can do it, you can too. Take the holiday to reflect, then charge forward, bringing innovation to your professional life. It’s already inside of you… time to share it with the world.
